Matthew Sweigart began his study of Shiatsu at the Ohashi Institute in New York City in 1985. He began his full time practice in 1987, founded Ohashiatsu Chicago, a branch school of the Ohashi Institute in 1988, and became a Certified Ohashiatsu Instructor in 1989. Since that time he has devoted himself to his own training in the field, and the creation of educational opportunities for others. Over the years, he has developed his own style which is called Flying Kiatsu. It draws upon his background in Gymnastics, Dance and Yoga and his foundation in the Ohashi style of shiatsu which emphasizes graceful and powerful tai chi like movement. He currently resides in Northern California and travels regularly to the Chicago area to teach and offer private sessions.
